Welcome — How to Walk the Nine Levels
A short word on what this site is, and how to begin without being overwhelmed by it.
This site is a map, not a ladder to be climbed in a hurry. The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has been lived by ordinary people for three centuries, and it has always begun the same way: with a small, faithful step.
Begin where you are
The nine levels run from the outermost — simple, daily acts almost anyone can take up — toward the innermost, which is the work of a lifetime: union with the Heart of Christ. You are not meant to start at the center. You are meant to start at the door in front of you.
If you are not sure which door that is, the Where am I? page asks a few short questions and suggests a sensible starting point. There is no wrong answer, and nothing is locked.
The devotion is a friendship
It helps to remember what this is for. The practices — First Fridays, the Holy Hour, reparation, consecration — are not a checklist to be completed. They are the ordinary ways a friendship deepens: showing up, making time, repairing what has been broken, giving oneself away. The Heart of Jesus is not waiting to be impressed. It is waiting to be loved.
So take one practice. Live it for a month. Let it become yours before you reach for the next. That is how every saint of this devotion began, and it is enough.
