Visits to the Blessed Sacrament
Stop into a church, even for five minutes, whenever you pass one. The Heart of Jesus is there.
Why this practice
The visit to the Blessed Sacrament is a practice of Catholic life so old it has no inventor. To stop into a church on the way home from work, between errands, in a brief lunch break, for no other purpose than to greet the Lord — this is the daily friendship of the Eucharistic Heart.
It does not need to be long. It does not need to be eloquent. It only needs to be real.
How to begin
A short visit to the Blessed Sacrament, even of one minute, is more pleasing to God than all the riches of the world.
— St. Alphonsus Liguori
A prayer for this practice
Sacred Heart of Jesus, present here in the tabernacle — I have come to see Thee. There is nothing I need to say. Hold me, even for these few minutes, and let me go back into the world bearing something of Thee.
Amen.
