The Apostleship of Prayer
Join the worldwide network of souls who pray each day for the Holy Father's intentions, through the Sacred Heart.
Why this practice
The Apostleship of Prayer, founded by a Jesuit priest in France in 1844, is now called the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network. Tens of millions of Catholics across the world belong to it, joined to one another by the daily Morning Offering and by praying each month for the intention the Pope has chosen.
It is the simplest possible apostolic act: to live one's day in prayer for what the universal Church most needs. Through the Sacred Heart, the smallest prayer is joined to the prayer of every other member.
How to begin
He who unites his prayers to those of the whole Church, prays with the Heart of Jesus Himself.
— Pope Pius IX, on the Apostleship of Prayer
A prayer for this practice
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I pray today with the Holy Father and with all who pray in union with him. For the Pope's intentions this month, and for the deepest needs of the Church and the world, I offer this day.
Amen.
